I tried tightening some of the spokes on the silver ones rear wheel and ping! I broke one. Stripped the wheel and re-laced with new, thicker, heavy duty spokes. Looks mint now ?

I tried to start it, it locked up solid. Turns out the big end bearing has failed. Fortunately I have another good used crankshaft to install. Now to wait for a piston and gasket set.

Getting there, engine installed. I spun it with a drill to get some oil pressure up and sprayed oil everywhere ? At least I know the oil pump works ? Carb still to clean and seat cover to fit.

Got the engine prepped and painted today. Came up mint! I also did a leak down test and it passed with flying colours— with Beverley Dodd.

Good progress today. We fitted the new front tire, sorted out the handlebar switch gear, indicators, connected all the electrics, removed the old seat cover, fitted a steering lock, tested the electrics with a battery, fitted rear brake light switch and horn. Coming together nicely ?

My helper was present today. Once she has built it she can ride it.

Managed to find some really decent Michelin tires in the correct sizes. The front is due soon so I’ve just fitted another front wheel with a tire that hold air for now while I wait.

I used the magic paint stripper on some small parts. Works a treat.

The front mudguard mounting lugs were broken so I had to make up a set from parts. New seals and good stantions and they are good to go.

Some one had painted the nice chrome rims. I found an excellent paint stripper and they have come up almost as good as new.

Some progress being made.

With some time off over Christmas I have begun work on the rusty one.
