New Seat & Rear Mudguard and Front Mudguard Painted
Wheels back on and I got a new reproduction rear mudguard. Bev did a fab job of the prep work on the rusty old front one. It came up a treat 🙂 Cleaned up and painted the rear light housing too. We also fitted the new seat that amazingly was ordered on eBay from a Thailand seller on Sunday and arrived on Friday. Gotta love DHL!
New Chaly tires fitted
I splashed out and bought the decent Michelin Tires. Nothing is too good for the mighty Chaly 😉

A good clean up of the carb with my ultrasonic cleaner, cleaned out the fuel tank (in really good shape inside) , new fuel line, points removed and thoroughly cleaned, advance mechanism lubed, timing set with the light bulb method and away she goes!

Pressed buy now on Friday, picked up on Saturday 🙂

New Seat Cover
Picked up this seat cover from Aliexpress for $18 delivered. Never again will I try and fit one. It put up quite a fight.
Rear Wheel on the Silver CG gets new spokes
I tried tightening some of the spokes on the silver ones rear wheel and ping! I broke one. Stripped the wheel and re-laced with new, thicker, heavy duty spokes. Looks mint now ?
Engine has to come out
I tried to start it, it locked up solid. Turns out the big end bearing has failed. Fortunately I have another good used crankshaft to install. Now to wait for a piston and gasket set.
Engine installed
Getting there, engine installed. I spun it with a drill to get some oil pressure up and sprayed oil everywhere ? At least I know the oil pump works ? Carb still to clean and seat cover to fit.
Engine painted.
Got the engine prepped and painted today. Came up mint! I also did a leak down test and it passed with flying colours— with Beverley Dodd.
Electrics sorted
Good progress today. We fitted the new front tire, sorted out the handlebar switch gear, indicators, connected all the electrics, removed the old seat cover, fitted a steering lock, tested the electrics with a battery, fitted rear brake light switch and horn. Coming together nicely ?
